What is Mean Opinion Score?

Mean Opinion Score (MOS) is a measurement utilized in assessing the quality of audio and voice transmissions in telecommunications, particularly in the context of VoIP and other communication systems.

MOS is usually employed to identify how user’s experience the clarity and quality of communications and typically scored on a scale of 1-5 where 5 is excellent and 1 is bad. The scores are averaged to calculate the MOS.

MOS is widely used in the communication industry to improve the quality of voice communications. Service providers and network operators can optimize their systems for better user experience by utilizing a standardized method of measuring the user satisfaction.
